What Will My Frigidaire Warranty Cover?

Frigidaire kitchen and laundry appliances generally have a one-year limited warranty. You’ll want to check the back of your owner’s manual for the specifics of the warranty on your appliance. If it was purchased recently, you should be able to find a copy of the owners’ manual at www.frigidaire.com and search for the model you purchased.

While you are not required to register your appliance in order to receive warranty coverage, registration does have added benefits. For instance, you’ll be notified of any recalls right away if you register your Frigidaire appliance.

Beyond the one-year warranty, what can you gain from registration of your Frigidaire product? Here are a few:

Frigidaire Factory Service

In some areas, Frigidaire Factory Service is available. This means you’ll get a factory-trained technician working on your appliance, with a service truck full of Frigidaire replacement parts.

Extended Warranty

Is an extended warranty on a Frigidaire product a good idea? Extended warranties on Frigidaire products are available. You could purchase an extended warranty directly through Frigidaire, or through a third party, usually the dealer where you purchase the Frigidaire. If you buy an extended warranty through a dealer, then you’ll need to send your claim to the dealer, not the manufacturer.

Extended warranties with Frigidaire include a few options. You can choose between a one-, two-, or three-year Frigidaire Service Contract. Three-year protection for three years costs extra. Under the contract, Frigidaire covers the following (as long as all qualifications are met):

  • Repairs and replacements needed on all functional parts, as well as labor costs associated with repair or replacements
  • Replacements of the appliance (with comparable features) if yours can’t be fixed or if it makes more sense to replace it
  • Service from factory-trained experts who know Frigidaire products
  • Your money back, if you’re unsatisfied with the coverage—you may receive a complete refund of remaining services, fewer claims are paid

What Will NOT Be Covered by My Frigidaire Warranty?

A manufacturer’s warranty is great, but it only goes so far. That’s why it’s important to know what is NOT covered under a Frigidaire warranty. Here is language from a sample appliance warranty from Frigidaire, showing that coverage does not extend to these circumstances:

  1. Products with original serial numbers that have been removed, altered or cannot be readily determined.
  2. Product that has been transferred from its original owner to another party or removed outside the USA or Canada.
  3. Rust on the interior or exterior of the unit.
  4. Products purchased “as-is” are not covered by this warranty.
  5. Food loss due to any refrigerator or freezer failures.
  6. Products used in a commercial setting.
  7. Service calls that do not involve malfunction or defects in materials or workmanship, or for appliances not in ordinary household use or used other than in accordance with the provided instructions.
  8. Service calls to correct the installation of your appliance or to instruct you how to use your appliance.
  9. Expenses for making the appliance accessible for servicing, such as removal of trim, cupboards, shelves, etc., which are not a part of the appliance when it is shipped from the factory.
  10. Service calls to repair or replace appliance light bulbs, air filters, water filters, other consumables, or knobs, handles, or other cosmetic parts.
  11. Surcharges including, but are not limited to, any after-hour, weekend, or holiday service calls, tolls, ferry trip charges, or mileage expenses for service calls to remote areas, including the state of Alaska.
  12. Damages to the finish of appliance or home incurred during installation, including but not limited to floors, cabinets, walls, etc.
  13. Damages caused by: services performed by unauthorized service companies; use of parts other than genuine Electrolux parts or parts obtained from persons other than authorized service companies; or external causes such as abuse, misuse, inadequate power supply, accidents, fires, or acts of God.

How Do I Start a Frigidaire Warranty Claim?

Filing a claim on your Frigidaire refrigerator or other appliance is going to be much easier if you have registered the product already. If not, no big deal, you’ll just have to look up the model and serial numbers. The locations of these numbers will vary, but here is a helpful guide for locating them

Model Number:

  • Refrigerator: On the upper-left sidewall of the top freezer, or on the upper-right side of the fresh food compartment for a French door side-by-side refrigerator. The model number will be visible when the door is open.
  • Microwaves: Along the interior side trim or the left-side panel. It will be visible when the door is open.
  • Wall ovens: Along the interior side trim. It’s visible when the door is open.
  • Washers: Along the trim of the door or on the back of the tub opening (under washer lid) of a top loader.

Serial Number:

  • Dishwasher: On the interior side of the door or the right side of the tub.
  • Ranges/stoves: Along the interior side trim of the oven, on the left-side panel, or on the front frame of the storage drawer panel. It will be visible when the drawer is open.
  • Air conditioner: On the right side of the unit.
  • Cooktops/stovetops: Along the underside of the cooktop base.

With this information, along with the purchase date, you can go to the Service and Support portal at Frigidaire.com to troubleshoot issues. If you don’t find the solution to the issue in their FAQ section, you can call their customer support phone number to schedule service with a Frigidaire-trained technician.
