Editorial Notes

Complete Appliance Protection has been in the home warranty market for 20 years and has a solid reputation among clients. This is evident by the number of awards they have won including Best Of Kudzu, 2012 & 2014; Angie's List Super Service Award, 2011 & 2014; and the “People Love Us on Yelp” award, 2016.

The company serves both homeowners and homebuyers in the USA, except Iowa, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Offering reasonable premiums and no deductibles—unlike American Home Shield’s service call fees of $75 or more—Complete Appliance Protection plans cover the most important home appliances and major home systems.

Like most home warranty companies, Complete Appliance has emergency service 24 hours/7 days a week, with contractors ready to help. Besides, the company allows the use of the homeowner’s service provider, which is a rare feature in the industry.

In addition, Complete Appliance Protection has high ratings from the BBB, Google, and Yelp.

The company’s representatives are available by phone only as there is no online chat,  which might be considered a slight disadvantage.

As for contractors, Complete Protection home warranty has qualified technicians, and unlike most home warranty companies, they allow you to use your own technician—the one you trust.

Despite the wide range of coverage plans offered by Complete Appliance, the list of covered items may seem limited. However, this home warranty company also provides service of the most frequently used home systems.

Coverage

In this part of our Complete Appliance Protection review, we will help you choose the coverage plan you need. The first thing to note is that Complete Appliance Protection is the best option for homeowners focused mainly on their appliances. However, this company also covers several home systems, despite its name.

Another important aspect of the Complete home warranty is the fact that there are no deductibles, which is unusual for the home warranty industry, making it quite attractive to customers.

Compared to other home warranty companies, Complete Appliance Protection offers a wider range of coverage plans. The company has five plans, and two standard ones—the Appliance Plan and Systems Plan. Also, combination plans such as the Silver Combo Plan, Gold Combo Plan, and Platinum Combo Plan.

Depending on your needs for a home warranty, Complete Appliance Protection coverage plans will cost you $384 to $720. Also, there is optional coverage available for $48 to $240.

The Appliance Plan covers service of major kitchen and laundry equipment and is a good option for homeowners who aren’t worried about home systems. Appliance coverage provides service for washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, and oven. Add-ons to this plan are a wine refrigerator, microwave, fan, and trash compactor.

The Systems Plan provides coverage for air conditioner, furnace, and water heater under the cooling and heating plan.

The Combo Plan combines service items in different ways. The Silver Combo Plan will cost you a bit more than the Appliance Plan and less than Systems Plan, but it covers a/c, water heater, dishwasher, and oven.

The Gold Combo Plan, or Full House Plan, is a good option for customers who want to have a/c, water heater, washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, and oven covered with a home warranty. Its price is $600, which is higher than more extended coverage plans of similar companies such as Select Home Warranty or Total Home Protection.

The most extended coverage plan offered by Complete Appliance Protection is the Platinum Combo Plan, which is a full combination of all three combo plans. It covers every item mentioned in both previous plans including the electrical system and in-bound water pipes. This plan will cost you $720, which is higher than the industry’s average cost of platinum combo coverage plans.

In choosing a home warranty, it is essential to know what exactly it covers and what services it does not provide. The selection of items covered with Complete Appliance Protection is quite limited, so it is better suited to owners of new homes, as it does not offer any protection for anything structural such as roofs. Garage doors/openers, garbage disposals, ceiling fans, ductwork, humidifiers, sprinkler systems, spa tubes, or sump pumps are also not covered.

Coverage-

Cooling and Heating

Complete Appliance Protection services every part within the appliance whether it is an air conditioner, furnace, or water heater.

Plumbing System

Complete Appliance covers in-bound water pipes only. The company does not protect such devices as faucets, toilets, shower heads, or water softeners. Coverage does not deal with drainage issues, stoppages, leaks, or dripping faucets.

Home Appliances

As the name of the company suggests, Complete Protection home warranty covers all parts of the appliance that needs servicing. This feature is unusual for the home warranty industry, where most companies choose which parts to maintain or repair.

There is optional coverage available in Complete Appliance Protection plans, including fan, wine cooler, pool heater, pool pump, septic pump, septic tank and lateral lines, trash compactor, well pump, and tank.

For this Complete Appliance Protection review, we carefully researched the fine print in the company’s terms and conditions, summarized them, and made a comparison with other home warranty companies.

Here, ReviewHomeWarranties.com offers you more important information about Complete Appliance coverage:

  • No hard limits on repair work. The company looks at the appliance history and technician’s recommendation before making a decision whether to repair the appliance or replace it. However, they have a $1,000 limit for septic, in-bound water pipes, and electrical wiring.

  • If you have more than one appliance listed under a coverage plan, you must add them to your contract at an extra cost.

  • A preventive maintenance check of the appliances every other year is provided as part of the program.

  • Coverage for rented appliances has an additional cost of $5 per item, per month.

  • Good working condition is essential for all items, protected by your plan before the effective date of the contract.

  • Complete Appliance does not consider pre-existing conditions, rust, or lack of maintenance as the reason for declining your claim.

  • Unlike most home warranty companies, Complete Appliance Protection allows you to use your own technician for repair work.

  • As with most companies in the industry, Complete Appliance Protection provides an emergency service, which means that you may submit your claim 24 hours/7 days a week.

  • Coverage becomes effective after 30 days, which is above the industry average.

  • Cancellation fee is only $25, where Select Home Warranty charges $75.

Customer Reviews and Feedback

Quotes from actual customer reviews:

The company has been great to deal with on repairs and replacements. I haven't had any issues with them since I started with them 3 years ago! Greatest thing is I can do the work with either their recommended specialist or with folks I trust and as long as the technician calls for approval things are covered.

Google Reviews, January 16, 2018

You call yourselves "Complete Appliance Protection," yet for my third claim since the inception of the contract, and the only one exceeding $200, you offer only 32% of the total bill, then have the audacity to inform me that "CP will not authorize any further repairs on this appliance"--at the same time having the effrontery to tell me that I "may purchase a new unit from any authorized dealer"--at triple the price!
