Now it is agood time for you need to decide which parts of your home you want to be covered under warranty. Based on this decision, you will know which home warranty plan to select. America's 1st Choice Home Club offers a variety of plans that will fit your needs whether you are a homeowner, home seller, or home buyer. Choosing the right plan is the most important part of the process of purchasing a home warranty. The coverage of your home systems and appliances as well as the amount of money you spend per year will depend on it.

The two most popular types of plans offered by home warranty companies are combined plans and separate plans for home systems and appliances. You can find combined plans at companies like Choice Home Warranty or Total Home Protection, but AFC Home Club offers more flexibility in terms of coverage.

The cheapest plan at AFC Home Club is the Bronze plan at only $350 per year, which is less than $30 per month. It includes a gas or electric water heater, air conditioning, heating system, or built-in wall unit. The Silver plan is $450 per year, and it covers home appliances only.

The best plan that covers most home appliances and home systems is the Gold plan and will cost homeowners $550 per year, which is comparable to the industry average. Additionally, homeowners can add coverage for pool and spa, central vacuum, sump pump, septic system, and other systems and appliances. All optional items are priced a la carte and can be added to any plan.

The coverage starts on the 31st day after the policy’s sale date and continues through the time period selected by the client. The contract will be renewed automatically unless canceled. For every service call, there is a $60 fee regardless of the plan.

Once the service request is placed, the company will contact the authorized contractors within 48 hours during normal business hours, or four days on weekends and holidays. The contractor will then contact the customer to set up an appointment at a time that is mutually convenient. Please remember that the contract will be renewed automatically unless canceled.

Before you sign a contract with any of the home warranty companies, it is always good to know what is covered by the warranty that you are about to purchase and what is not. We have carefully reviewed AFC home warranty contracts and summarized all of the relevant information in the table above.

Air Conditioning and Heating System

AFC Home Club provides coverage for A/C and heating systems under the Bronze and Gold plans. The coverage is limited to one unit up to a 5-ton capacity that was designed for residential use. For the detailed list of covered and not covered parts, please refer to the table below. The company will pay up to $25 per pound of refrigerant, 10 pounds maximum. If the unit is over 10 years old, the company will use a depreciation schedule if the cost of repairs outweighs the value.

Plumbing System

Plumbing system coverage is available under the Gold plan only. America's First Choice warranty covers all visible interior leaks and breaks of water supply pipes, drains, vents, and waste lines. A piping failure that includes collapsed piping or damage from extreme weather or roots is not covered by AFC Home Club. Maximum coverage is limited to $500 per membership term.

Electrical System

All interior wiring, fuse box, circuit board, and circuit breakers are covered by the AFC Home Club Gold plan for up to $500 per membership term. Any fixtures, switches, outlets, appliance cables, or smart home equipment is not covered.

Home Appliances

America's First Choice Gold and Silver plans cover all major home appliances, including washer and dryer, refrigerator, oven, range, cooktop, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and garage door opener. Water heaters, either gas or electric, are covered by all three plans.

One of the most significant factors in a company’s credibility is whether their policy terms and conditions are openly available and easy to comprehend. Unlike companies with tricky terms, such as Advanced Home Warranty, AFC Home Club’s policy information is easy to find on the company’s website. However, the terms themselves may seem to be tricky.

In the table above, we have specified how to find all of the vital information for the company's plans, prices, service fees, coverage, and other important details as summarized in this review. By following this, you will be able to find and double check this information at the original source as it might have changed after this review was written.

Once you sign a contract with America's First Choice, the coverage does not become effective immediately. You will have to wait 31 days, which is an industry maximum, for the warranty to become effective. Anything that breaks before that date will not be covered under AFC home warranty.

You have 30 days to cancel the policy if you have changed your mind. However, you will have to pay a $75 cancellation fee. This is a regular practice, but the fee itself is higher than usual. In case you have not canceled your policy after the contract has expired, it will be extended automatically, and you have 30 days to change that. If you sell your house and want to transfer America's First Choice warranty to the new owner, there is a $50 transfer fee.

In case any of the home systems or appliances covered by AFC Home Club needs a repair, you have 1 day to submit a claim, so act quickly. The company's customer service is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The repairs are usually performed within 2 business days or 4 days that include weekends or holidays. However, if you need an emergency service, it can be provided immediately.

Customer Reviews and Feedback

Quotes from actual customer reviews:

Submitting a claim with them hasn't been difficult. They are very responsive and there's no real delay. That gives them a really good mark. You call, you get a number, they call you back and ask you what's happening. Then they assign you to someone, and that person calls you the next day and makes an appointment. Also, they have very good service people who come out.

BBB, August 8, 2018

Having an electrical issue with a rental, they received the request and assured a tech would contact my tenant and be out to check it out. This could be a fire hazard so time is of the essence. Called my tenant 2 days later, not only did no one reach out to them, AFC did not even contact an electrician, and had no plans to do so. They did not communicate that to me, I had to call them. Here we are 4 days later, they have not contacted an electrician, did not contact me as to why, and this is a potential fire hazard I need looked at. Previously they have screwed me out of coverage, and always look for and find reasons to not pay out.

It is always worth finding out what other people have to say about the home warranty company you are looking to buy from. For this purpose, we have collected America's First Choice warranty reviews from six consumer reporting sites, including Yelp, Site Jabber, and the Better Business Bureau, and conveniently organized them in the table below. All of the feedback that you see is linked to the original source.

Overall, we found almost 300 AFC home warranty reviews, with a major part of them published on BBB. The company’s rating on Yelp ranged from one star based on 61 reviews to 3.5 stars out of 5 on BBB.

While reading the reviews, we noticed that some customers confused America’s 1st Choice Home Club with other companies that have similar names, such as First American Home Buyers Protection. These customers left negative reviews for AFC Home Club meant for a completely different company, erroneously downgrading its rating. This confusion has happened with other companies as well, such as Total Home Protection and TotalProtect Home Warranty. Please keep that in mind and make sure you read or write the reviews for the right company, not the one with a similar-sounding name.
