Editorial Notes

ABC Home Services is one of the oldest companies in the industry, as it has been providing home warranties in Ohio for almost forty years. Such a long period of operation, despite all the competitiveness and challenges of the market, says a lot about the company’s reliability.

The most unusual and appealing thing about ABC Home Services is its free service call. The majority of home warranty companies charge for calling a technician when you have a problem. This provider does it only in case of an unnecessary call. Although the cost of protection is over $100 higher than the industry average, you will not have to pay deductibles every time something breaks. After all, this contract can be a good value for your money, as it can become a cost-effective instrument for house protection.

Furthermore, according to the BBB rating of A+ and accreditation, customers are pleased with ABC Home Services. However, there are many complaints about communication problems and repair delays.

Coverage

Most homeowners applying for a home warranty want to defend themselves from costly repairs of both their home systems and appliances. In general, ABC Home Services offers three combined plans: Core Home Warranty, Premier Home Warranty, and Premier Plus Home Warranty. You can sign up with them for a month or a year.

If you want to have only your main home systems and water heater covered, the Core Home Warranty plan is a good option. It protects your air conditioning, heating, electrical systems, plumbing stoppages, and outside gas, water, and sewer lines, along with the water heater. This package will cost you $420 per year—almost the same as in the industry leader Select Home Warranty, but without the service call fee, which is very appealing.

The Premier Home Warranty plan adds coverage for attic and bathroom exhaust fans, garage doors, ductwork, toilets, kitchen, fireplace, sump pump, and laundry equipment. This contract suits homeowners, who want to protect as many home items as possible. It will cost you $725 a year, which is higher than the industry average, but taking the absence of deductibles into account, the cost of this plan is quite beneficial. You can find a more detailed description of the coverage programs in the table below.

Premier Plus Home Warranty plan will cost you $725 a year with $0 service call fee. In addition to the coverage provided by Premier Home Warranty plan, it includes all the outside gas, water, electric, and sewer lines.

Like most home warranty companies, ABC Home Services provides optional coverage, which includes pool and spa, roof leaks, septic tank system, and pumping, water softener, well pump, wet bar refrigerator, wine cooler, and ice maker. All these items are priced a la carte.

What also makes a home warranty attractive is its coverage limits. ABC Home Services' limits  are higher than the average company's limits are. For example, ABC Home Services' coverage is up to $8,000, whereas Pride Home Warranty’s is $2,500.
