Coverage

First American Home Buyers Protection company covers all home systems, inlcudin plumbing, heating and electrical, as well as most appliances and fixtures.

Heating System

FAHBP contract covers gas, electrical and oil furnaces, thermostats as well as heat pumps, radiators and heating elements. The service providers will recharge heat pump refrigerant or replace the whole split system, if needed. However, no auxiliary space heaters, fireplaces or chimneys, no underground or outside components are covered. For the full list of covered and not covered parts of the heating system please see the table below. Additional coverage is available with the purchase of First Class Upgrade.

Plumbing System

For the plumbing system, the company contract covers leaks and breaks in the pipes, pressure regulators, toilet tanks and mechanisms, permanent sump pumps, hot water pump, various valves, and more. In case any walls, floors or ceilings need to be penetrated for the repair of piping, the company will return the opening to the rough finish. The coverage for diagnostics, access and repair or replacement is capped at $500. Additional coverage with the purchase of First Class Upgrade will include all faucets, shower heads, and hose bibs for up to $600 per occurrence.

Electrical System

As for the electrical system in the house, all wiring, plugs, conduit, junction boxes, switches and circuit breaks are covered by the First American Home Buyers Protection contract, including ground fault. The company will provide access to covered electrical repairs through the walls, floors or ceilings and will return the opening to the rough finish. However, none of the computer, video, intercoms, alarms, doorbells and any wiring associated with them will be covered. For an additional coverage with the purchase of First Class Upgrade, the contract will include smoke detectors, correction of code violations and obtaining building permits for up to $250.

Home Appliances and Fixtures

First American Home Buyers Protection plan covers most home appliances, including oven/range/cooktop, built-in microwave, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, trash compactor, garbage disposal, instant water dispenser, and a kitchen refrigerator. Additionally, attic and exhaust fans as well as ceiling fans are covered for all parts, except light kits and remote transmitters. Plans and Costs

There are three First American Home Buyers Protection plans available to the customers in all states except Alaska and Hawaii. Basic plan includes these home appliances only: garbage disposal, dishwasher, oven range, cooktop, microwave, trash compactor, refrigerator, washer, and dryer. None of the home systems are included.

FAHBP Premier plan covers all home appliances mentioned in the basic plan plus some home systems, including heating, plumbing, electric, and central vacuum. This plan works the best for the customers who want almost everything in their house covered by home warranty. The total cost for each plan can be split in 12 monthly payments without any extra fees. Service call with any plan is $75.

Optional coverage available for those customers who would like to include central air conditioning system, well pump, additional refrigerator, or pool/spa equipment to their plan. Each item in this plan is prices separately. Please refer to the table below for the current prices.

FAHBP policy terms and conditions are transparent, with clearly described service fees, excluded items and reasons for cancellation. The customers should note that the contract will be renewed automatically if not cancelled on time. Another important detail that many users tend to miss is that 48 hour waiting time listed on the contract is to get a call from the contractor, not to get a service.
