Company Credibility Review

America’s 1st Choice Home Club, also known as CRAST, was established in 2009 in Marietta, GA. Despite the fact that the company has been on the market for less than 10 years, it has already gained a good reputation and solid credibility among customers. The company provides services in all states, except Florida, South Carolina, Hawaii, and Alaska.

A good indicator of the company’s credibility is its accreditation with reputable authorities. America’s 1st Choice Home Club is accredited with the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Advocate, Consumer Affairs, and other consumer report agencies.

AFC Home Club BBB rating is a B with 65% positive reviews and a composite score of 3.65 out of 5 stars based on 46 reviews. These are very good results for any home warranty company, and especially for a relatively young one. The industry leaders, like Choice Home Warranty and American Home Shield, have comparable ratings with BBB.

America's 1st Choice Home Club Company Reviews by Clients

It is always worth finding out what other people or current customers have to say about the company that you are looking to buy a warranty from.

For this purpose, we have collected AFC Home Club reviews from six consumer report sites, including Yelp, Consumer Affairs, and the Better Business Bureau, and conveniently organized them in the table below. All of the feedback that you see is linked to the original source.

Overall, we found almost 300 reviews, with a major part of them published on the Consumer Affairs site. The company’s rating on Yelp ranged from 1 star based on 33 reviews to 4.5 stars on the Consumer Advocate website based on 36 reviews.

While reading the reviews, we noticed that some customers confused America’s 1st Choice Home Club with other companies that have similar names, such as First American Home Buyers Protection. These customers left negative reviews for AFC Home Club meant for a completely different company, erroneously downgrading its rating.

This confusion has happened with other companies as well, such as Total Home Protection and TotalProtect Home Warranty. Please keep that in mind and make sure you read or write the reviews for the right company, not the one with a similar-sounding name.

The angriest customers are usually quick to write negative reviews. Among these people, many have not even read the contract to begin with and then asked the company to cover something that was not included in the plan. Here is an example of such a review:

Worst company ever!!! Stay away!!! I joined AFC about 3 months ago and it has been a nightmare. I have submitted 2 requests and they have been denied because they don't cover them. I had a leak on the A/C line and they did not cover leaks. So, I had to pay the tech to perform the test and fix it out of pocket. I do not recommend this company whatsoever!! Go with someone else!

By Ivan D

On the other side, happy customers are usually not so quick in writing reviews, but those who do are very satisfied with the company’s services.

I am not one to normally write reviews. I am a simple person who just wants to get what they pay for and I believe in Karma. I needed to tell others about this company so they too can experience what it is like to have someone stand up to their word, which is not normal these days. I called AFC about 2pm when it got real hot here about a week ago. My house was 79 degrees and my pregnant wife was about to have a fit. They had the tech at my door within 3 hours, be it this was a heat wave and he was still there that day! He was working on the unit for about 2 hours and it ended up needed quite the repair, when all was said and done what was asked of me? NOTHING ALL I PAID WAS $60.00 deductible and he was on his way. I couldn't believe how simple it really was. (Guess I am a skeptic.) I would highly recommend them to anyone I know, my house has been cool since.

Plans and Costs

Now you need to decide which parts of your home you want to be covered under the warranty. Based on this decision, you will know which home warranty plan to select.

America's 1st Choice Home Club offers a variety of plans that will fit your needs whether you are a homeowner, home seller, or home buyer.

Choosing the right plan is the most important part of the process of purchasing a home warranty. The coverage of your home systems and appliances as well as the amount of money you spend per year will depend on it.

The two most popular types of plans offered by home warranty companies are the combined plans and separate plans for home systems and appliances. You can find combined plans at companies like Choice Home Warranty or Total Home Protection, but AFC Home Club offers more flexibility in terms of coverage.

The cheapest Bronze plan at AFC Home Club is only $350 per year, which is less than $30 per month. It includes gas or electric water heater, air conditioning, heating system or built-in wall unit. The silver plan is $450 per year, and it covers home appliances only.

The best plan that covers most home appliances and home systems will cost homeowners $550 per year, which is comparable to the industry average.

Additionally, homeowners can add coverage for pool and spa, central vacuum, sump pump, septic system, and other systems and appliances. All optional items are priced a la carte and can be added to any plan.

The coverage starts on the 31st day after the policy’s sale date and continues through the time period selected by the client. The contract will be renewed automatically unless canceled. For every service call, there is a $60 fee regardless of the plan.

Once the service request is placed, the company will contact the authorized contractors within 48 hours during normal business hours, or four days on weekends and holidays.

The contractor will then contact the customer to set up an appointment at a time that is mutually convenient. Please remember that the contract will be renewed automatically unless canceled.
